The first international prospective cardio-rheumatology study
dedicated to Cardiovascular Imaging in Immune-Mediated Diseases
INFLAME is a prospective international study conducted within the EACVI network dedicated to defining the role of multimodal cardiovascular imaging in the diagnosis and risk-stratification of patients affected with a broad spectrum of immune-mediated diseases. INFLAME is a large-scale and ambitious initiative involving centers across five continents, enabling the capture of diverse real-world practices in cardiovascular imaging among patients with inflammatory diseases. By integrating data from multiple healthcare systems worldwide, and in the context of the recently published ESC guidelines, this study aims to characterize contemporary clinical practice and contribute to the development of future evidence-based recommendations in these conditions.

“Cardiovascular imaging has undergone remarkable advances over the past decade. Multimodality imaging now offers a unique opportunity to better detect and risk-stratify cardiovascular involvement in immune-mediated diseases. Through this global and collaborative effort, we aim to generate robust real-world evidence and improve patient outcomes.”

International Coordinator & Lead Principal Investigator
The study will include all patients with a suspicion of cardiovascular involvement due to a suspected or previously diagnosed Inflammatory Cardiovascular Diseases and Autoimmune Rheumatic diseases (ICARDs) referred for a cardiac MRI and/or cardiac nuclear imaging exam.

“It is time to collaborate! Diagnosing cardiovascular involvement in immune-mediated conditions remains a significant challenge. Cardio-rheumatology is a rapidly evolving field, and we now have a unique opportunity to help shape future clinical practice through coordinated international research efforts.”
Dr Aïcha Kante
Internist & Clinical Immunologist

Co-Principal Investigator
INFLAME bridges the gap between cardiology and rheumatology/internal medicine by leveraging multimodality cardiovascular imaging — bringing together cardiologists, internists, and rheumatologists for the first time in a global collaborative study.

The INFLAME study is powered by the enthusiasm and collaborative efforts of the Heart Imagers of Tomorrow (HIT) community within the EACVI network. With its focus on multimodality imaging, INFLAME also benefits from the support of the European Society of Nuclear Medicine.
Young and senior cardiovascular imagers have joined forces with internists and rheumatologists to launch the first study spanning across 5 continents dedicated to cardiovascular involvement in immune-mediated diseases — providing an unprecedented international perspective on the imaging of cardiovascular inflammation and cardio-rheumatology across diverse healthcare systems.
A huge thank you to our incredible Coordinators! They are playing a key role in setting up the study across borders — coordinating local contracts, reaching out to new centers, and helping build our global network across 5 continents.
